Preparation Strategy

A practical preparation framework for UKPSC 2026

Think beyond Prelims: The 2026 structure makes it important to build preparation around the entire examination тАФ Prelims, Mains and Interview тАФ rather than preparing only for objective questions.
1

Start with the official syllabus

Break the syllabus into individual topics and create a preparation checklist. Do not begin with random current-affairs material.

2

Build Indian General Studies

Develop a strong foundation in History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Science, Environment and related General Studies areas.

3

Give Uttarakhand a separate preparation system

Since the notification specifically provides substantial Uttarakhand reference in Prelims and dedicated Uttarakhand papers in Mains, regional preparation should not be treated as an afterthought.

4

Prepare Prelims with negative marking in mind

Practise accuracy, elimination and time management because incorrect answers attract one-fourth negative marking.

5

Do not ignore General Aptitude

Although the General Aptitude paper is qualifying, the notification requires 33% marks. It therefore needs regular practice.

6

Begin Mains answer writing early

General Hindi, Essay and the six General Studies papers require a different preparation approach from objective Prelims questions.

7

Use Previous-Year Questions

PYQs should be used to understand recurring themes, question depth, terminology and the relationship between static subjects and current affairs.

8

Build a revision cycle

Follow a repeating cycle: Learn тЖТ Revise тЖТ Practise тЖТ Analyse mistakes тЖТ Revisit weak areas тЖТ Test again.

9

Connect Current Affairs with static subjects

Current affairs should be connected with Polity, Economy, Environment, Geography, Science, History and Uttarakhand-specific developments.

10

Build the interview dimension gradually

The final stage carries 150 marks. Develop awareness of Uttarakhand, administration, contemporary issues and your ability to express ideas clearly.

ProTeacher preparation model: Concept тЖТ Notes тЖТ Revision тЖТ PYQs тЖТ Practice Questions тЖТ Mock Tests тЖТ Error Analysis тЖТ Mains Writing.
